Solar Removal & Re-Installation
Need a new roof but have solar panels in the way? Adding a dormer, fixing a leak, or inheriting a system from the company that installed it and then disappeared? GreenLeaf removes your panels, stores them safely, and puts them back with new mounting hardware, a full system check, and a 1-year workmanship warranty on our work.
We service systems we didn’t install, including Tesla, SunPower, Sunrun, Vivint, and orphaned systems whose installer is out of business. Our electricians are NABCEP certified and licensed in Nassau, Suffolk, and NYC.
What Every GreenLeaf Removal & Re-Install Includes
A removal and reinstall is not just unbolting panels and bolting them back. Done wrong, it voids warranties, leaves roof penetrations unsealed, and brings a system back online producing less than before. Here is how we do it.
Fair, Itemized Pricing
A written quote priced per panel with removal, storage, reinstall, and electrical disconnect/reconnect broken out. No surprise “while we were up there” charges.
All-New Mounting Hardware
Roof attachments, flashings, and sealants are replaced, never reused. Your new roof gets new penetrations flashed to the manufacturer’s spec so the roofer’s warranty and ours both stay intact.
Full System Check
Before removal we document production. After reinstall we test every string or microinverter, verify grounding and monitoring, and hand you a report showing the system is back at full output.
1-Year Workmanship Warranty
Our labor is covered for a full year after reinstall. If a flashing weeps or a connection fails because of our work, we come back and fix it at no charge.
When Panels Have to Come Off
Roof Replacement
The number one reason. Shingles under an array wear the same as the rest of the roof, and a roofer can’t work around panels.
Leaks & Repairs
Chimney, skylight, or valley repairs that sit under or beside the array. We lift only the panels that are in the way.
Additions & Dormers
Building up or out? We remove, store for the length of construction, and redesign the layout if the new roofline changes.
Orphaned Systems
Your installer went out of business and nobody will touch the system. We will, and we can take over service going forward.

One Crew for the Roof and the Solar
Most removals happen because of a roof. When you hire a roofer and a solar company separately, you pay two mobilizations, juggle two schedules, and if a leak shows up later each one points at the other.
GreenLeaf Roofing is a GAF Certified roofing contractor under the same roof as our solar crews. We pull the panels, tear off and install your new GAF roof, and reinstall the array, usually within the same week, with one contract and one warranty holder for all of it. Bundling the roof with the removal and reinstall also saves you the second removal fee.
How It Works

Site Visit & Quote
We photograph the array, record current production, count panels and attachments, and send a fixed itemized price.

Removal & Storage
Panels, rails, and inverters are labeled, removed, and stored on racks at our East Setauket warehouse, or on site if you prefer.

Roof Work
Your roofer, or GreenLeaf Roofing, does the roof. We coordinate directly with them on timing and attachment locations.

Reinstall & Test
New flashings and hardware, panels back in the original layout, full electrical test, monitoring verified, report delivered.
