Why Businesses Are Going Green

March 15, 2018 by dev-greenleaf

Why Businesses Are Going Green

Let’s face it when people hear the phrase, “Going Green,” there’s more of a tendency to think of someone wearing blue jeans rather than somebody wearing a business suit. But more and more, that image is changing because more businesses are going green. Certainly, these businesses want to leave the planet in better shape than when they found it, but going green can actually improve your bottom line.

Greenleaf Helps You Save Money and Save the Planet

At Greenleaf Solar, it’s our business to help people and organizations go green. We’re Long Island’s leading solar power company and we sell solar panels to our customers and show them how they can save on their energy bills. We see all sorts of customers benefit from solar and we know businesses can boost their profits from buying panels and instituting other green initiatives as well. So we want to tell you why more businesses are going green.

Going Green is Red Hot

There’s a number of ways businesses can benefit from implementing more environmentally friendly policies. According to Inc., saving the environment will save you money over the long haul. For example, LED lights are more expensive than regular light bulbs, but they last 40 times longer.

Going green also means your company will be more innovative. Thinking of ways to operate your company in a way that reduces your carbon footprint allows you to think outside of the box, from entrepreneurs creating electric cars or using organic ingredients to a small business emphasizing the word efficiency in “energy efficiency.” By creating more efficient delivery routes, companies are creating incredible new products and putting together start business practices.

How Solar Panels Factor In

One of the best ways to make your business green is to install solar panels. The biggest benefit is to your bottom line. According to the Houston Chronicle, the cost savings are tremendous. They estimate it’s the equivalent of prepaying for almost 40 years of energy. Solar panels offer a good long-term return on your investment. Solar panels are durable and last decades.

Installing solar panels can also create jobs. Here in New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced that solar power has brought $2.8 billion in private investment to the Empire State, which has created 12,000 jobs. The governor has set a goal to have half of the state’s electricity generated by renewable energy by 2030.

“Solar is a vital part of this state’s clean energy future and we have experienced unprecedented growth in this new sector,” Cuomo said. “We will continue to support the development of solar, helping to spur economic growth, creating new jobs and helping to build a cleaner, greener and more sustainable New York for all.”
